Fun In Laredo was created to address this issue. We recognized the need for a centralized resource where we could easily locate all the exciting things available for our kids in Laredo. It was crucial for this resource to be user-friendly and equipped with powerful filtering capabilities to help us find the perfect activities. By developing this directory, we alleviate the most time-consuming aspect for you—the collection and categorization of all the fun things—so that you can efficiently plan a day filled with engaging activities for your children. Hi, I’m Marlene, and I am the creator of this incredible online resource! I was born and raised in the wonderful city of Laredo—a city known for its tight-knit, family-oriented community, and rich Hispanic culture.
I recently moved back to Laredo, having lived in San Antonio for a few years while I pursued new opportunities to grow in my professional career in IT. Living in other big cities has its perks, like the wide availability of attractions and events, but Laredo offers other intangible and invaluable perks that are unique to this city. Missing the kindess and generosity of the people of Laredo, we knew we had to relocate back to Laredo to give our children the opportunity to experience the warmth of our people.
Coming back home I found it difficult to locate all of the ways I could keep my kids entertained. Don’t be fooled, though! While Laredo is a small city, it is not short of kid-friendly events and activities. Our city has simply lacked visibility to all the entertainment. I found that events were promoted through individual social media pages or other outlets that are not easily accessible, and most of the time I only found out about them through word-of-mouth—and often too late.
Having a passion for design, experience through my career in web technologies, and this need to entertain my family, I came up with the idea to build a centralized repository of all events, activities, recreation, and local businesses who offer services for our kids. I figured the rest of my community faced a similar dilemma, so investing my time to build this website would be well worth it.
